Pic of the Day – Pinus densiflora ‘Golden Ghost’

Pinus densiflora ‘Golden Ghost’ is a striking variegated Japanese red pine. The new needles emerge in spring with about 50% of their length bright gold. This color bleaches to near white as the summer progresses. The needles do not burn in full sun. It makes an irregularly upright, slow growing conifer to about 10′ tall in 10 years and about half as wide. Grow in full sun and well-drained soil.
