‘Togarahi’ spicebush is a phenomenally bright plant for spicing up the landscape. Brilliant gold leaves are lightly speckled with green. Yellow spring flowers are nice but not terribly showy but the fall color is a bonfire of red, orange, and gold. It grows to form a shrub about 8′ tall and 2/3’s as wide. The name translates to pepper and is named for a spicy pepper mix that is found in some Japanese restaurants to sprinkle over your food like salt. Plants are not generally available in the US yet but look for it in the future.
